At just 11 years old, Mutoni Shifa is already dreaming big and working hard to turn those dreams into reality. Born and raised in Kawuku – Ggaba, Shifa is known not only for her kind heart and confidence but also for her creative touch and love for beauty.
Shifa comes from a humble background, and like many children in her community, she has faced challenges. But her life began to change when she received support from the Makula Fund for Children, which helped her stay in school. Today, she is a bright and determined pupil at Gaba Demonstration Primary School, where she is loved by her teachers and classmates alike.
But what truly makes Shifa stand out is her passion for beauty and design. While other children talk about becoming doctors or pilots, Shifa proudly shares her dream of becoming a beauty designer and makeup artist. She already practices by braiding her friends’ hair, playing with color combinations, and sketching designs for future styles. She says, “When people feel beautiful, they feel confident and I want to help people feel good about themselves.”
Shifa may only be 11, but she already shows the spirit of a true artist, leader, and role model—bright, bold, and full of kindness.
“I want to be a designer of clothes and makeup,” she says, her face lighting up. “I want to help people look and feel confident.”

Shifah comes from a modest home where every coin counts. Yet in the face of financial hardship, she holds onto her dreams with both hands. Her love for English class helps her communicate her ideas, describe her designs, and write down stories that go with the outfits she imagines. Her teachers say she is gentle, creative, and always eager to participate.
Though her access to creative tools is limited, she makes the most of what she has—turning paper scraps into patterns and sketching her ideas whenever she gets the chance. Her talent is undeniable, and with support, her dreams can unfold beautifully.
